May the Best Man Win is the seventeenth episode of A Different World's fifth season which was first broadcast on February 13, 1992.
Summary[]
At a Hillman fundraiser, Byron Douglas III is impressed with Whitley's fundraising skills and enlists her help in his campaign for State Senator. At the same time, Mr. Gaines discovers he's losing his lease at "The Pit" because the Burger Barge Corporation has outbid him. The students are very upset and so is Byron Douglass III. It turns out that he used to work for Mr. Gaines when he was a student. He uses his rally to embarrass the executives from Burger Barge into underwriting the lease. The students are impressed, especially Whitley, who kisses Byron when they're alone!
